Description

The Song Rehearsal is a painting by French artist Edgar Degas, created around 1872-1873. The painting depicts a group of four women gathered around a piano, presumably rehearsing a song. Degas was known for his depictions of dancers and performers, and this painting is a departure from that theme, instead focusing on the intimate setting of a music rehearsal. The painting is done in oil on canvas and measures 64.9 x 81 cm. It is currently located at the Atelier Ed. Degas and is part of the French culture. The stretcher has an oval stamp with the artist’s name.
