Description
The Ungrateful Man is a charcoal and gouache on board illustration by Norman Rockwell, created in 1917 for St. Nicholas magazine. The scene depicts a peasant being saved by a lion and monkey, only to be ungrateful and dismissive of their help. The animals, without attempting to harm anyone, simply make their way close to the side of the peasant. The piece measures 12 1/2 x 18 inches and is part of the Norman Rockwell Museum Collection, gifted by Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hahne in memory of Martha and Alfons Dietrich.
